Queen of Crazy

Had the most brilliant Friday in a long time. I started off by making a clean win in pool against my ol’ friend DragonSpawn. The win tasted extra sweet since he just before went on and on about how I usually don’t win clean games, but that it’s usually his own doing as he accidentally shoots down the eight-ball. What made the win necessary, was my cocky responses to all his nonsense.

The work day would proceed as usual, then in the afternoon it was time for some Friday-fika, which always is nice, and then Friday poker. This Friday poker was a little bit extra special, our tournament setup-man (among all other things) had gone slightly more mad than usual. This tournament was actually sponsored with some prizes from Svenska Spel, but what made this poker special was our mans random tournament setup. The blinds, the ante and the time they lasted was a complete mess, he’d pretty much put in random numbers and it would go up and down, up and down. He’d also decided to go mad on the price slots - instead of giving the prices to number one, two and three like a normal person, he’d give them to number one, four and six.

This game was important to me. What was more important than skills in this tournament was insanity-level. If I’d win, I’d become queen of crazy. Isn’t that the best title ever!? The price pot was to no interest, I just wanted the title. And.. Even though there are so many much more skilled poker players on the department than me, I felt all along that I could pull this off (I mean, twice in a row I’ve come in fifth, so I’m not all bad, just a little unstable).

I’m going to cut the story short - I did pull it off. Well, I didn’t get all the way to number one - but the winner deserved it, because he really is the craziest person of us all (the tournament creator). Out of 43 contestants, I came in second. As I’m quite the newbie and don’t have a well-developed strategy (hell, especially in the end I would play really wacky and weird), I sure made a few big-shots annoyed with my close-win - but I hope they’ll get over it until Monday. Most of them would go by my office and cheer at me, but I also received a few fu-fingers.. :D The winner would of course come over to throw my loss in my face, then we compared who had the most shaky hands :D

After this I felt I had to challenge J for a game of pool, because I was obviously having a really lucky day. Maybe, just maybe could I win that too for once? While my hands were still shaking I’d run to challenge him. He was a little afraid to accept the challenge at that point, but I always get what I want - so we went off the clock and played. Twice. Yeah, I lost both sadly - but it was still a really great ending of a really awesome day at work.
